Eliza H. Person belonged to the well-known Person family of North Carolina whose papers are held in the Southern Historical Collection of the Wilson Special Collections Library of UNC-Chapel Hill.
This volume contains pieces that date from approximately 1810 to 1824. The pieces are undated, but dates are derived from Richard J. Wolfe's Secular Music in America 1801-1825: A Bibliography. The volume includes music for piano solo as well as voice with piano. There are a few pieces with flute parts included as well. The first piece of the volume is the complete opera of The Ethiop by Raynor Taylor.
