In this photograph, students crowd the windows of Hill Hall to hear the General Faculty Meeting. By this date, there was a general consensus that the Spring 1970 semester could not be safely completed due to the strike by students. Faculty met on May 7, 1970 to decide what to do about students' academic work, since the semester could not be completed. Nearly four thousand students gathered outside of Hill Hall in anticipation of the decision by the General Faculty Council. In the end the Council passed a resolution that allowed faculty members to make individual arrangements with students for the completion of coursework, including the granting of amnesty for unfinished work.
