Abstract | The Chapel Hill Board of Trade of Chapel Hill, N.C., was established by Chapel Hill business people in July 1905 and endured at least through April 1907. Members who led the organization included J. H. Pratt, H. H. Patterson, and R. L. Strowd. The group met several times a year. The Chapel Hill Board of Trade record book includes minutes of meetings, a list of members and dues paid, a treasurer's account, and a printed copy of the Board's constitution and bylaws. Also included in the book are a few letters and clippings related to the organization. Minutes describe the development of the Board of Trade in July 1905 and meetings about how ventures, such as the building of a new road, might affect town residents and businesses. The minutes conclude in October 1906, while the treasurer's account continues through 22 April 1907. |
