The collection includes scattered political and family correspondence including typed copies of addresses to Deberry's constituency and letters concerning his career and national issues, especially tariffs, campaigns (circa 1830), both state and national, and Native American affairs.

The collection includes scattered political and family correspondence including typed copies of addresses to Edmund Deberry's constituency and letters concerning his career and national issues, especially tariffs, campaigns (circa 1830), both state and national, and Native American affairs. Letters reference the Mexican American War; the Fugitive Slave Bill; Tariff Acts of 1816, 1824, and 1828; the presidential administrations of John Quincy Adams and Andrew Jackson; and the United States Mint, Charlotte, N.C., Branch. Also among the papers are a muster roll and payroll, 1867, for Company K, 4th North Carolina Regiment; political addresses of John A. Cameron and Lauchlin Bethune; lists of perspective voters; and letters concerning land transactions.

Correspondents include Benjamin Robinson, Alfred Dockery, R. M. Patterson, H. G. Lucas, D. A. Boyd, Wiliam G. DeBerry, D. M. Barringer, John E. Bouie, and John A. Gilmer.
