Lawrence Flinn (d. 1945), native of Pittsburgh, Pa., was a graduate of the University of North Carolina and graduate student at Duke University. He settled in Chapel Hill, N.C., and was married to Marion DeVlaming of Roxboro, N.C. He was vice president and treasurer of the Institute of Applied Econometrics, Inc., New York, and studied, traveled, and was a sometime lecturer at the University of North Carolina, Duke University, and the University of Freiburg. He served as a staff sergeant in World War II and was killed in action at the Battle of the Rhine, March 1945.
