Abstract Augustus Graeber was a farmer who grew cotton and raised livestock in Rowan County, N.C. He and his wife Maria lived in Rowan County until 1884 when they moved to Alamance County. N.C. Financial records of Augustus Graeber include receipts and bills of sale for dry goods, farm equipment, and produce, and for Graeber's sales of cotton and livestock. There are several indenture and lien records in which cotton and livestock are offered as collateral for loans procured from U. L. Holmes and Henry Peeler of Rowan County and from John Reese of Baltimore. Md. Also included are tax receipts, a certificate of appointment as Rowan County Registrar for the May 1881 election, land sale deeds, receipts for doctors' visits, and a mortgage on property paid off in March 1883.
