Abstract Frederick Jones Hill (1790-1861) of Brunswick County, N.C., and Wilmington, N.C., was a student at the College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York, N.Y. The collection includes a notebook (174 pages) containing notes made by Hill as a student of lectures delivered by David Hosack (1769-1835), and memoranda about examinations, the weather, and conversations with Hosack; and a manuscript copy of Hill's will.

Frederick Jones Hill (1790-1861) of Brunswick County and Wilmington, N.C., was a planter, North Carolina state legislator, and member of the state convention of 1835. He was a student at the University of North Carolina and attended College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York, N.Y., 1811-1812, where he studied under David Hosack (1769-1835).

David Hosack had a distinguished career in medical practice and teaching and was prominent in the social and cultural life of New York City.
