Abstract Moriah G. Holliday was the wife of John Holliday and the daughter of Jesse Speight (1795-1847), a North Carolina state legislator and United States representative, later a United States senator from Mississippi. Mary E. Pendleton (fl. 1849-1854), of Aberdeen, Miss., was the wife of Joseph E. Pendleton and a cousin to members of the Holliday family. The collection includes papers of the Pendleton family of Aberdeen, Miss., particularly letters, 1849-1854, to Mary E. Pendleton from Dixon relatives traveling to California and living in Marysville, Sacramento, and other places in north central California; a letter, 1886, to Moriah G. Holliday, about her father, Jesse Speight; scattered Holliday and Pendleton family legal and business papers; and other items.
