Abstract | Hugh Leach (1814-1887) resided in Moore County, N.C. The collection includes two volumes consisting chiefly of rules and exercises for the study of mathematics, surveying, navigation, and bookkeeping, but also containing a variety of miscellaneous memoranda by Hugh Leach, members of the McPherson family, and other individuals in Moore County, N.C. Also included are a ledger of accounts, 1802, of William Parker, a London trader; an undated journal by "Hugh MacPherson, mate," of a voyage on the "Hamilton" of London from London to Madeira; and the log of a voyage from Greenock, Scotland, to Wilmington, N.C., in 1803. |
