Abstract Walter Everett Philips (1860-1939) was a farmer, teacher, and business owner of Rocky Mount, N.C., and Edgecombe County and Nash County, N.C. The collection is the recollections of the boyhood of Walter Everett Philips in Rocky Mount, N.C., and in Edgecombe and Nash counties, N.C., including attendance at Frank S. Wilkinson's Tarboro Male Academy, visits with relatives in Tennessee, and student years at the University of North Carolina, 1878-1881.
