Abstract William Wallace White was a planter and storekeeper at Holly Hill plantation in Warren (now Vance) County, N.C. His diaries contain a full daily account of his farming activities, which included the cultivation of tobacco, cotton, grain, corn, vegetables, melons, livestock, etc., and of public life in the area. Topics include Methodist church activities, education, local government and politics, and events of significance. There are no volumes for 1859, 1862-1865, 1867, 1868, and 1882.

William Wallace White was a planter and storekeeper at Holly Hill plantation in Warren (now Vance) County, N.C. White was the son of Edmund White and Mary Haygood White. He married Panthea Burwell Boyd of Warren County in 1848 and in 1854 he purchased Holly Hill. In partnership with William Henry Burwell, he had a general store at Drewry, N.C.

The collection includes diaries kept by William Wallace White. The entries contain a records of financial transactions and full daily account of his farming activities, which included the cultivation of tobacco, cotton, grain, corn, vegetables, melons, livestock, etc., and of public life in the area. Topics include Methodist church activities, education, local government and politics, and events of significance. There are no volumes for 1859, 1862-1865, 1867, 1868, and 1882.
