Paul Frederick Sharp, who served as chancellor from 1964 to 1966, was born in Kirksville, Maryland.
January 22, 1918
The Board of Trustees adopted President Edward Kidder Graham's recommendations concerning the selection of Kenan Professorships. The first five Kenan Professors named were: Dr. Francis P. Venable, Kenan Professor of Chemistry; Dr. H. V. Wilson, Kenan Professor of Zoology; Dr. Edwin Greenlaw, Kenan Professor of English; Dr. William MacNider, Kenan Professor of Pharmacology; and William Cain; Kenan Professor of Mathematics.
